Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – February 14, 2016

Lent started last week – with Ash Wednesday, and carries on for 40 days before Easter (not including Sundays).  Growing up Catholic, as with a few other denomination that observe the Lenten season, Lent is typically characterized by a season of repentance, fasting, and reflection – a time of preparation for the celebration of Christ’s resurrection.  It’s important to note, though, that no amount of piety can take the place of a heart and soul completely surrendered to Christ.  It’s not in our posture that we’re found Holy, it is in Christ’s death and resurrection that our standing is made righteous before God.  So, as we sang yesterday, and had lyrics that reminded us of so many different postures of worship, let’s not forget that we are looked upon with the same favor as Jesus, only through his sacrifice for us.

We opened yesterday with Come Ye Sinners.
After our call to worship we sang Lay Me Down, The Stand, Jesus Paid it All, and Hungry

Our offering tune was new to OMPC – a great song from Matt Redman called Never Once.
