Great morning of worship last Sunday. I had some good time off the week before with the family, and it’s always good coming and kicking off the advent season at Oak Mountain. My encouragement to the congregation was that as we worship though advent – we continue to sing praise songs, intermingled with carols. As we consider the 1st advent (Christ’s birth), and the 2nd advent (Christ’s return), my encouragement is that we embrace the texts of those praise songs in the context of an advent setting – singing words like “remember your people, remember your children, remember your promise, oh god” – or “Hosanna – come have your way among us, we welcome you here Lord, Jesus”
Last Sunday, we opened with Let God Arise (Tomlin).
After our call to worship, we sang Hosanna, Your Grace is Enough, Come Thou Long Expected Jesus, Break Through (Tommy Walker), and Hear Us From Heaven.
For our offering, Carlee led us in Emmanuel.
Carlee's Emmanuel was so good Sunday my 11 year old asked me to get that song for her ipod. I might go to both services to hear Laura twice!
