Monday morning Recap for Sunday – May 9, 2010 (I’m pretty sure it’s Thursday)

We’re in the midst of a series on Revival – Bob is teaching through several revival passages over the summer. I expect big things for Oak Mountain.

We opened last Sunday with Let Us Return, a song based on Hosea . . .

After our call to worship, we sang Not to Us, All Hail the Pow’r of Jesus Name, No Other Name (Todd Fields), You Alone, and You Never Let Go (Redman).

For our offering song – we sang a 3 1/2 minute version of Hillsong United’s Fire Fall Down. I had an argument with one of my friends – a worship leader at another church, that the song couldn’t be done without doing the 10 minute version. Not only do I think it was done, but done well – and well received by our congregation.

For communion we sang a song called Endless Praise, and a new Chris Tomlin/Reuben Morgan song called Awakening. GREAT tune.

This coming Sunday our kids are leading in worship. The following Sunday the choir is leading in worship.

Choir resumes . . .

Choir kicks back off tomorrow with normal Wednesday rehearsals. If you’ve never been to choir, ever – please come. You don’t have to know how to read music. We provide snacks and drinks, and childcare should you need it.

Don’t feel like a commitment to choir at Oak Mountain means you have to be there every Wednesday night! You know that lady that sits by the door and checks your name off on a role as you walk in – she doesn’t come to this choir.

Don’t feel like showing up at 6:30 would be a waste of your time. The choir hour from 6-7 is jam-packed. Any amount of time that you’re able to put in will be worth it.

So – if you’re new, or if you haven’t been in a while, or if you’re dying to see what this choir thing is like, please come. Tomorrow night: 6-7, downstairs in the choir room (located just below the stage).

Choir is a great way to get involved in community, meet new people, learn to sing, laugh a lot, and worship . . . email me with any questions.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Finishing up plans for Christmas. Our Spectacular Spectacular is going to be the morning of December 13 – both services.

We start rehearsing on September 16. I start charting next week. And I can already tell it’s going to be one of those services, that is WAY out of my control.

I was sifting through music (my iTunes library has over 16,000 tunes in it . . . ) and a friend walked in today, and let me hear a song, not knowing that I was planning Christmas, and WHAMMO . . . there it was. I continue to be amazed at the different ways that the Spirit shows up when planning major things . . .

So this Christmas, we’re reminded, again, despite where we are, how we feel, what we’ve done, where we think we’re going, or how we think we’re stuck, God – from the beginning of time, had a grand plan for our restoration and participation in His glory, and we get to celebrate that, in our very own context.
