Monday Morning Recap for Sunday January 17, 2KX

The power went out –

The 9:00 service didn’t get to see the 80, or the video clip that we had put together to lead into the sermon re: Haiti . . .

Carlee did a bang-up job filling the room with vocals on the offering song, without mic, and in a room that’s been designed to acoustically support a sound system, and not unamplified vocals and Bob screamed his way through his 9:00 sermon. The power came back on at 10:20 in time for us to get the technical systems back up for the 10:30 service.

It was a neat morning though –

We opened with a new song called What a Savior.

After our call to worship, we sang Forever, Indescribable, Be Thou My Vision, Center, and How Deep the Father’s Love for Us (with the intro to Levon by EJ).

I mentioned how I was struck by the 2nd half of the 3rd verse in that song – “why should I gain from His reward, i cannot give an answer, but this I know with all my heart, His wounds have paid my ransom.

What if we really believed that – after singing Be Thou My Vision, and Center – with the line “Oh Christ – be the center of our lives, be the place we fix our eyes” – what if we truly did understand, and believe with all our heart that He’s paid our ransom –

How many of us get wrapped up in foolishness, even on a Sunday morning – coming to church, arguing with kids, fighting with spouse, wondering what the sermon is about, or if we’ll sing our favorite song – we get lost in the foolishness and forget “with all our hearts” that His wounds have paid our ransom – that is, if we are in Christ, we don’t burn in hell for eternity . . . My prayer becomes that I would, if only for a moment, forget the foolishness, and know with all my heart . . . and that THAT truth would be the CENTER of my life.

Anyway –

Our offering song was By Our Love by Christy Nockels . . . Great tune. Carlee sang it. The early service was accompanied by acoustic guitar, the 2nd – by piano.

I think it was pretty interesting the worship experience that occurred during the service with the power outage. Perhaps more acoustic services could be done (with the power on)? SES
