We’ve done a variation of the same Christmas Eve service since I’ve been here, which was Christmas 2003. The Means family has blessed us every year by leading the service…
We opened the 5:00 service with a time of carol singing for about 15 minutes prior.
We officially opened our service with Because of Your Love.
After our call to worship we sang Joy to the World, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Here I am to Worship (first verse only), and Away in a Manger.
Carlee then sang Welcome to Our World, with a simultaneous signing from Christy Scotch.
Rob Bright then read the Christmas story (you know – the one from Scripture?)
Lynne Means then sang O Holy Night, which was ended with the final few bars from Eric Clapton’s Layla.
After our homily, we sang Silent Night.
Probably the most traditional service that we do all year – although our arrangements of the carols still have a contemporary feel to them.
Next Sunday we go back to regular programming, although the Christmas decor will still be up.
