We kicked off the 2013 Advent Season yesterday at Oak Mountain. Be sure to join us next week for communion, and the following Sunday for our Christmas Worship Service – the Glorious Impossible, at 8:15 and 10:45.
One of my favorite things to do during the Advent season is to continue using praise songs that we sing all year, interspersing them with Christmas carols. As we consider Advent not only being a celebration of the anticipation of Christ’s birth, but also an anticipation of His return – the words to these praise songs take on a whole new, Christmas meaning.
We opened yesterday morning with God is Coming.
After our call to worship we sang Hosanna, Come Thou Long Expected Jesus, We Will Run, and O Come Emmanuel
Our offering song was Light of the World – sung by Carlee Green. You can find a recording of Carlee singing Light of the World on our new Christmas Album Ring the Bells – available now on iTunes.
