Greetings people on the interwebses . . . Great morning AND evening of worship yesterday at the Oak. Bob Flayhart returns to the pulpit this weekend - you'll not want to miss it. LIFE groups also resume this weekend. We opened yesterday with All Who Are Thirsty - which is just a great tune - great opening prayer. It's been a great series. let me encourage you to get the whole series by visiting our podcast on iTunes.We opened last weekend with What a Savior.After our call to worship we sang All Hail the Power of Jesus Name (in the key of E - i know that's an important detail). Monday morning recap for Sunday – July 25, 2010

Greetings blog readers . . . I returned to oak mtn after being gone last week - such a great time coming back to the church family that I love so much. We had our 7th annual bullfrog choir. Tremendous turnout, and a tremendous sound from over 100 guys belting out the melody. It's really quite amazing. We opened with Let God Arise. After our call to worship we sang Sing to the King, Immortal Invisible, Center (Hall), Be Thou My Vision, and Never Let Go. Our offering song was Surrender. Love that song. Love it.

I read an article today, in one of the magazines that comes to my office every month. It was written by a guy i respect - and have studied, and have read - and the title of it was "letting volunteers go." The premise of the article was answering a "question" from a reader about how to let a volunteer go - one that has been involved in the ministry for years, simply because they weren't a solo-quality voice.I'd offer a different perspective.I'm grieved at the thought that was would use "distraction" or "not-as-skilled" to justify excluding someone from worship…
