Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – April 17, 2011

Not your traditional Monday Morning recap - as yesterday was our Palm Sunday worship service. We opened with Viva la Vida. I'll post the video soon that explained why we opened with that song - and my take on the lyrics. We did new songs from Tim Hughes, HIllsong United, Tommy Walker, Andy Gullahorn, Bethany Dillon, Handel (yes really) and Jared Anderson, and a couple custom hymn arrangements that I've done. Great time of worship. Over 100 people involved from the choir, to the band to the tech. Really looking forward to a great time of worship this weekend. Easter…

1. Favorite Dance Moves - We were sitting in the den the other day - and Michael Jackson flashed on the screen - and my kids went nuts. I then informed them that we had a blu-ray "This is It." They thought I bought it just for them, and i became the world's greatest dad. They sat captivated .... and then something happened. This is the long version of our promo - highlighting most of the songs used…

O Love…

Come join us this Sunday morning for our special Palm Sunday worship service - O Love.I'm so excited about this one. It's been a great journey over the past few months as the choir has been preparing. The texts of these songs are incredible - and my hope is that the congregation is able to come to the table with whatever baggage they may have - to whatever degree they feel unloveable, outcast, or in fact have trouble loving others - and find the unconditional, undeniable, unearned love in our Savior.Make sure to join us at 9 and 10:45 this…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – April 10, 2011

This is getting ridiculous. If I can't commit to a Monday morning... We opened on Sunday with a song I wrote called Awake My Soul. After our call to worship we sang Paul Baloche's Hosanna, Come Thou Fount, Here I am to Worship, and You Gave Your Life Away. Our offering song was Lift High - such a great tune. For communion we sang Beautiful Things (by Gungor) and another tune I wrote called Endless Praise. Our Palm Sunday program is this Sunday - don't miss it. Taking the full hour of worship - come be reminded of God's love…

New Record from Oaks Worship from Dallas, TX

I'm pleased to offer a review of a brand-new LIVE worship album from Oaks Worship in Dallas, TX. The album, titled Lift up the LIght, features the worship teams from Oaks Worship, joined by Bethany Dillon, and Shane and Shane. What a great, refreshing worship album. Abandoning tricks and gimmicks, this new record offers the listener a peek into the night of the recording. The instrumentation and arrangements are solid, the songs are deeply rooted in Biblical truths, and the tunes are easy to sing. I'm especially enjoying "Worthy of Affection."The title track "Lift up the LIght" reminds us of God's…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – March 27, 2011

Yesterday was the 3rd Sunday of Lent. Bob came up with a great acrostic - LENT - Let Everyone Now Turn. Lent ends up being a sweet time in my life - of trying to strip away all that i get distracted with - and focus back on Christ, for my sufficiency, sustenance, identity... We opened yesterday with a tune I wrote called Let Us Return. Ironically enough - Bob was going to use the tune as an illustration (for aforementioned acrostic) and had no idea that we were going to sing it. I love it when the Holy Spirit…
