Happy 4th birthday to #3

#3 came along in 2007. He was, what most would describe as "unexpected." His older brother is a mere 16 months older. He's an incredible gift, and we think, quite possibly, crazier than #1 and #2 put together.

Some of the best money we spend each month

We've got our #1 and #2 in Tae Kwon Do. Apparently there's varying degrees and disciplines, even in the outfits here in Birmingham. I've been convinced since day 1 that we made the right decision with World Class TKD.This is the recent testing that their two instructors, Richard Coon and Justin Scarcella went through to earn their 4th degree black belt. Absolutely incredible.[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyPym-ygOl4&fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0]

Trash TV

I'm just gonna say this. I hate trash TV. And let's face it - stuff that falls in this category (for me at least) are shows like:The Bachelor/Bachelorette - conveniently, starting back up tonight, Survivor, Big Brother, American Idol, Top Model, anything on MTV, a lot of things on Fox, blah blah blah, etc. You get the point. Usually, if it's called "reality," then i automatically turn it off. Except for Pawn Stars. I LOVE watching pawn stars. Kind of a mix between antiques roadshow and american chopper.Anyway - the bachelor is on, and I have to configure my knees…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – January 2, 2011

2011. Wowzer. It goes by faster and faster every year.We only had one service yesterday - and i love the packed house. It's great to see all the faces at once, and hear all the singing...We opened with Come Ye Sinners - which is ending up being one of my favorite hymn re-writes.After our call to worship we sang Because of Your Love, Our God Saves, O Worship the King, and How Deep the Father's Love for Us. Our offering song was Tommy Walker's I Have a Hope.We kick things back into half-gear this week. Worship choir resumes on Wednesday…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – December 26, 2010

Two recaps today - one for our Christmas Eve service - and one for yesterday - Sunday the 26th.Our Christmas Eve service has developed into quite the tradition. This was my 8th Christmas at Oak Mountain, and I've tried to instill some sort of "traditional" songs for oak mountain, during Christmas Eve. Having said that, much of our programming is the same, with just a few variations. We have, since i've been here, had two services. The first is always full band, and the 2nd is a stripped down acoustic set. Both services have the same programming. The Means family (Roger,…

From Sunday Dec 12

Just a rough mix from the song we closed with - Ronnie Freeman's Ring the Bells.I counted things up, and figure at the end of the song we had about 170 voices, 11 different vocal parts, 9 band members, and 3 technicians making the final product.http://dl.dropbox.com/u/87743143/JS%20Blog/Site/Flash_Stuff_files/player.swf
