It was great to be back at OMPC yesterday after a Sunday away on vacation. We continued in our Blue Book series with "Following and Being Led." Our worship set was designed around the theme of whole-hearted devotion, sacrifice and surrender. For me, a key verse for surrender is always found in the 3rd verse of O Worship the King - "Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, in You do we trust, nor find you to fail..." I'm always forgetting that I am that frail child of dust - my trust is too often in what I'm able…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – May 28, 2017

Ok ok... so it's Thursday. But if you're checking a blog on Memorial Day to find out song names, you're doing holidays wrong... I was out on Sunday and Jeff Sauceda led worship. Always does a fantastic job! They opened with Psalm 100. After the call to worship they sang You Lifted Me Out, White Flag, Lord I Need You, and Take My Life (the Passion version). The offering song was Come As You Are, and the communion tune was Jesus Messiah.

Bob was back in the pulpit yesterday as we continued our series in the Blue Book Devotional. Yesterday's theme was "Loved By God" - which paired so nicely with some great tunes that remind us of God's love for us... We opened with Because of Your Love. After our call to worship we sang Our God Saves, Good Good Father, I Stand Amazed, and How Deep the Father's Love For Us. Our kids led in worship yesterday, as has become tradition here at OMPC, especially for Mother's Day. Always great to be led by the kids - they're such a wonderful reminder of our posture/position in worship. Their often uninhibited freedom is enviable, as they haven't lost the desire to use their bodies, arms, and hands in worship. We opened yesterday with Let the Praises Ring. Hard to believe we're already into May - next Sunday is Mother's Day, and the kids will be leading us in worship. Love it when the kids lead in worship - almost as much as I love choir Sundays - of which, yesterday was one. Love our choir at OMPC - and yesterday was a rare "show up and sing" Sunday, as we had no official rehearsals beforehand. Bob was out yesterday and Mark Long - our Youth Pastor, preached on the Blue Book week "Chosen By God." We opened with Jesus - a new tune to OMPC that we introduced during our Palm Sunday service. After our call to worship we sang All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name, How He Loves, Let it Be Jesus, and To Him. Our offering song was All Sons and Daughters' All the Poor and Powerless. Yesterday's worship set hinged around the idea that "it is well" with our souls, in Christ - knowing that He is the comfort, the peace, the rescuer. His faithfulness is our shield. We celebrated Easter Sunday yesterday with quite the crowd at OMPC! Always great to worship with such an incredible church. We opened yesterday with Let God Arise. After our call to worship we sang Joyful, Not to Us, Christ the Lord is Risen Today, Stronger, and This I Believe (the Creed).
