I failed to post last week's recap, as I was enjoying a couple days on the lake. We opened July 1 with May Jesus Christ Be Praised After the call to worship we sang This is Amazing Grace, Crown Him with Many Crowns, Let it Be Jesus and In Christ Alone Our offering song was Greater (which may or may not have been set to Christopher Cross' Sailing Yesterday we opened with White Flag After the call to worship we sang Lay Me Down, The Solid Rock, Reckless Love and Oceans Our offering song was Lay It Down.

I'm helping out at The Edge this week with our Jr High and our incredible youth staff, but drove back yesterday to be at Oak Mountain.  Ken Jones was also filling in for Bob and preached on "Christ the Triple Cure." We opened yesterday with Glorious Day After the call to worship we sang Arise, Jesus What a Friend for Sinners, To Him and At the Cross Our offering song was a new tune that Jeff Sauceda introduced to us call The Lion and the Lamb. I was out last Sunday and Jenny Pruitt filled in for me.  Incredibly talented and gifted!  So thankful for the amount of talent at OMPC. This past week was VBS here at OMPC.  We had almost 600 kids, and another 225+ adult volunteers helping to make the week a huge success.  It's great to see so many different staff and ministries come together to help pull the week off! This week Bob preached through Acts 12:1-17 - on mystery.  As I contemplated and planned the worship set - the idea of mystery took my thoughts to amazement, which then led me to I Stand Amazed, and from there I built the rest of the set.  I'm amazed at the mystery of God's pursuit of me despite…

It was great to be back at OMPC yesterday.  Such a great privilege to worship alongside this great congregation.  Yesterday was one our "we don't normally have this musical style" with a fiddle, acoustic guitar only, and hollow body bass along with some percussion. We heard yesterday from Micah McElveen of Vapor Ministries about his testimony and the work Vapor is doing in Haiti to restore and transform the most impoverished communities.  Yesterday was also Pentecost Sunday - the day we celebrate the sending of the Holy Spirit. Yesterday was Mother's Day and our traditional "kids lead worship" Sunday - where our Kids choir, supplemented by anyone from the gym that wants to join in, leads us in worship (taking the place of our typical praise team).  It's always so fun, and a great reminder of the child-like faith, simplicity, and abandon that we're called to in worship. Yesterday was a "show up and sing" choir Sunday - as we've done the past few years on this Sunday (*this Sunday being a late-spring sunday where we haven't had weekly choir rehearsals).  We had a great turnout - so much so that it's probably time to start bringing out another section of risers.  Always a great problem to have! Yesterday was the final Sunday of April, and also the concluding day of our Women's Beach Retreat - so many dads were thrilled that their wives were on the way home!  Bob also continued his series in the Book of Acts with Acts 9 - Saul's conversion.
