Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – January 7, 2018

We started a new year of worship at OMPC yesterday, and also kicked off a new church-wide devotional with Paul Tripp's "New Morning Mercies."  If you haven't picked up your copy yet - you can do so at the church.  It's free - one per family. We opened yesterday with May Jesus Christ Be Praised. After our call to worship we sang Arise, The Same Love, There is a Fountain, and Before the Throne of God Above Our offering song was Greater, sort of set to Sailing by Christopher Cross. Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – December 31, 2017

We put 2017 in the books yesterday.  It's been a great year for the Worship Ministry at OMPC.  Great folks involved in using their musical and technical gifts to glorify God, and our worship and musical community growing closer together in fellowship and community. Yesterday was just me at the piano, and Chad Walker - our Director of Outreach and Young Professionals delivering the message. We opened yesterday with Come Ye Sinners. After the call to worship we sang Your Grace is Enough, Lord I Need You, O Come to the Altar, and How Deep the Father's Love for Us. Our offering song was Mercy. Join…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – December 10, 2017

Yesterday was our 15th Annual Christmas Worship Service at OMPC.  I don't do a typical morning recap for the service - as it involves narrative, music and video, and takes the whole hour. I'll post videos here at the blog later this week, so be sure and check back, but in the meantime, we had over 180 involved between the choir, band, kids choir and tech team.  Such an awesome privilege to get to serve alongside such dedicated and talented volunteers. Check back soon for videos! Here is the blurb that I published on the back of our program this…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – December 3, 2017

Yesterday (actually Sunday because I'm writing this on Tuesday) was the first Sunday of Advent.  At OMPC we love to sing the traditional Christmas carols - but we also include songs that we normally sing during the year, which in the context of Advent, take on a whole new meaning.  Yesterday we sang a lot about "waiting," which of course reminds us that not only are we celebrating the birth of Christ, but we also wait and long for His return, coming in the clouds. We opened with Heaven and Earth (but just as a side note - i don't sing…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – November 26, 2017

We're wrapping up the year rapidly, as last Sunday was "thanksgiving sunday."  This is one of the few years that the Sunday after thanksgiving isn't also the first sunday of Advent.  The last time it happened was 2006 and the next time won't be until 2022!  So we haven't officially kicked off the Advent season yet, but will do so this coming Sunday - December 3. We opened yesterday with Here For You. After our call to worship we sang Lay Me Down, The Solid Rock, What a Beautiful Name, and To Him Our offering song was Ho   w Can it Be? (i figured…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – November 12, 2017

Yesterday was a bit different from our norm at OMPC as we had the author of the BlueBook - Jim Branch with us for an "interview" of sorts from our Sr Pastor.  We got to hear from him about his heart for writing the book and deepening his personal walk with Christ. Our worship set was dramatically shorter as we wanted to make sure to allow enough time for Jim and communion, so we only had 4 tunes. We opened yesterday with Our God Saves After our call to worship we sang Hosanna (Praise is Rising), Fairest Lord Jesus and 10,000 Reasons The…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – November 5, 2017

We had a wonderful crisp fall day yesterday here in Alabama - high humidity and temps in the 80's.  Nothing says fall like running in shorts and a t-shirt.  We're also drawing near to the close of our year-long sermon series on the #BlueBook - written by Jim Branch.  Yesterday's theme was "broken" and so our worship set was designed to remind us that in our brokenness it is God's faithfulness that we cling to. We opened with Glorious Day - a relatively new song from Passion in Atlanta. After our call to worship we sang Forever (and may or may not…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – October 29, 2017

We closed out the month of October yesterday, as well as finished up our 2017 stewardship emphasis with a sermon from Paul Kooistra.  Our choir also led in worship yesterday.  It's always a special treat when we have choir Sundays - it's so exciting to have so many talented folks at OMPC involved in ministry at the same time! We opened yesterday with Let Creation Sing After our call to worship we sang Give to Our God Immortal Praise, Good Good Father, Revelation Song, and No Other Name Our offering song was All the Poor and Powerless. We also showed a fantastic video produced by Wes Smith…
