Jason's Disney Opinions (part 1)

I mentioned in a post about 3 months ago, that I was going to do a few blog posts on my Disney experiences and opinions about the "best way to do Disney."  I assure you - these are just my opinions, and only based on our experiences, but we have had quite the variety of experiences - from traveling at all times of the year, adults only, with kids, multiple families, multiple days, single days... We've collected quite the portfolio of different Disney experiences over the years. Having said that, we've found a few tips and tricks that really pay…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – August 27, 2017

Yesterday marked the start of a week of prayer at OMPC - kicking off with a church-wide fast that started on Saturday night.  This entire week you can check out the app or the website for prayers written by our pastoral staff in an effort to guide your prayer time. We opened yesterday with Glorious Day - a tune that we've been introducing to OMPC over the past few weeks. After the call to worship we sang Hosanna (Praise is Rising), Come Thou Fount, Center, and Great Are You Lord Our offering song was Mercy from Matt Redman. If you're looking for the #bluebook song of…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – August 20, 2017

Yesterday morning was a choir Sunday – and choir Sundays are always some of my favorite.  We launched choir back last Wednesday night, and had a record turnout for our August rehearsal launch.  If you’re wanting to get involved – now is a great time, and we’ve even started working on Christmas music. Yesterday’s #bluebook theme was “together” and so our worship set was focused on God’s love and God’s pur suit of us in our brokenness, need for healing, fear and failures.  It’s only in the context of community that God’s love is truly felt and shown – which…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – August 13, 2017

Yesterday was pretty cool - we introduced Don Sellers - our new Director of Mercy for OMPC, and the current Sr Pastor of South Park Baptist.  Don's congregation was also kind enough to join us for worship - and we were certainly honored by their presence. We opened yesterday with Glorious Day - a new tune from Passion, and a new tune to OMPC. After the call to worship we sang This is Amazing Grace, My Jesus I Love Thee, O Come to the Altar, and What a Beautiful Name. Our offering song was Good Good Father, and our communion tune was My Beloved - sung by…

The kids all return to school this week (YAY!) which means that most families at OMPC are back from summer vacations and travel - great to see folks back in worship after these past few busy summer weeks!  Looking forward to a great fall of activities at the church, including Worship Choir - which resumes next Wednesday, August 16 from 6-7 in the choir room.  Come join us!  Drinks, snacks and childcare are provided and NO singing experience is necessary. Sunday was our 14th annual Bullfrog Choir - an opportunity for the men of OMPC to come, bring their sons and help lead our congregation in worship.  I think we had a record crowd, and the sound was just amazing.  A huge thanks to all that stepped out and up in order to lead well!  Already looking forward to next year! We opened with Arise After our call to worship we sang I Am Free, Crown Him With Many Crowns, Lord I Need You, and 10,000 Reasons Our offering song was a guys quartet singing Awakening from Passion.

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – July 23, 2017

Great to be back at OMPC after taking some vacation last week!  We continued this week with our BlueBook series and the week's theme was "becoming."  Our worship set was filled with texts that turned our gaze to Christ, fixing our eyes on Him. We opened yesterday with Glorious Day - a new tune from the Passion folks over in Atlanta. After our call to worship we sang Beautiful One, Waiting Here For You, May the Mind of Christ My Savior, and Savior King. Our offering song was What a Beautiful Name. MEN! Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – July 16, 2017

I was out on vacation Sunday and Jenny Pruitt filled in for me.  Always great to have such a host of talented people able to lead OMPC well. They opened last Sunday with All Because of Jesus. After the call to worship they sang Joyful, How He Loves, Never Let Go, and Great Is Thy Faithfulness The offering song was a Jenny Pruitt original called You Go Before. Join us in just two weeks for our 14th annual Bullfrog Choir - the opportunity every year for all men (and their sons) of OMPC to come together on the stage to sing and lead our congregation…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – July 9, 2017

Micah McElveen from Vapor Ministries preached yesterday at OMPC.  Great guy with a tremendous passion for the impoverished, and a great vision for reaching the ends of the earth.  We continued our BlueBook themes this week with "Letting Go."  The illustration I used as we intro'd the "song of the week" was that of letting go those things that we cling to so tightly.  Much like a two-year-old, grasping and obsessing over whatever toy they're playing with, until a parents walks into the room - where the kid drops the toy, throws his arms in the air in surrender... letting…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – June 25, 2017

We're halfway through our Blue Book series. If you haven't joined us, it's never too late to grab a copy and join OMPC in walking through this devotional.  Yesterday's sermon was on "Naked" and so our worship set was based around Psalm 30 (joy comes in the morning - God pursues us, and brings us out of shame). We opened with a new tune for OMPC called Glorious Day from the Passion folks over in the ATL. After our call to worship we sang You Lifted Me Out, Jesus, Jesus Paid it All, and What a Beautiful Name (Hillsong). Our offering song was Jesus I…
