Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – Sept 26, 2010

We had choir this past Sunday. If you're looking for an easy way to get plugged into the church, meet new people, have a time of worship on Wednesday nights, and sing some cool music - you might want to consider joining choir. No singing experience is necessary - and it really is a lot of fun.You know that old lady that sits at the door and checks your name off when you walk in the room - and gives you that look of shame if you haven't been in a while? Yeah, she doesn't go here, and isn't allowed…

Monday morning Recap for Sunday – Sept 19, 2010

Bob continues his sermon series on the Gospel Pipeline - the foundation of the Christian walk - it's life changing. One of my favorite quotes from yesterday . . . "we can no more change ourselves by human behavior than we can save ourselves by human behavior . . . " What a contrast to most teaching . . . where we're saved and justified by faith - but our sanctification is left to our own behaviors . . . Anyway . . . we opened yesterday with Today is the Day (Brewster). After our call to worship we sang You…

Worship Leader Lessons #13

Don't wait for Atlanta to tell you what songs you need to be doing. You know the stories - those (worship leaders) that anxiously await the latest CD from [insert name of artist here]. And they might be in Atlanta, or Nashville, or Australia . . . and immediately download the charts, get their guitarists a new pedal, and try to emulate the exact sound and feel of the entire disc. Problem is, they're forgetting to attention to whether or not those songs are singing the soundtrack of their church, their congregation. Remember - it's so easy to assume that everyone…

Happy birthday to our #2

Our #2 turns 5 today. He was born here in Birmingham at Brookwood, and delivered by the best OB in Birmingham - before she moved to St Vincent's (we followed her there for our #3).Anyway - Drew turns 5 today. These are a few pics that were taken at the beginning of the school year LAST year - apparently they were bringing the kids out into the hall - and standing them in front of the flowers, and saying "one, two, three " . . . but whenever they got to "three" drew would strike a pose - and so we…

Our offering song was Not Guilty Anymore - and can be found on our latest LIVE recording. For communion we sang Endless Praise, a song I wrote, and Beautiful Things by Gungor. 9 songs. we…
