It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Finishing up plans for Christmas. Our Spectacular Spectacular is going to be the morning of December 13 - both services. We start rehearsing on September 16. I start charting next week. And I can already tell it's going to be one of those services, that is WAY out of my control.I was sifting through music (my iTunes library has over 16,000 tunes in it . . . ) and a friend walked in today, and let me hear a song, not knowing that I was planning Christmas, and WHAMMO . . . there it was. I continue to be amazed at…

This blog is pathetic. (By the way, if you're reading this on Facebook, it's because my profile automatically pulls in content from my blog - at https://jasonsears.com)I've been out of town a bit this summer, and doing some other projects, so i haven't been putting any time or thought into the blog, except for these Monday morning recaps, which may be helpful - i don't know. This past Sunday morning was the 6th Annual Bullfrog Choir. And it was awesome. About 120 guys getting up and leading in worship - singing melody, and making a HUGE noise. There's never any prep,…

I remember the infatuation

I remember the infatuation with the king of pop. I'd hear the intro to the pepsi commercials and knock over furniture to make sure I could see it. I made my mom copy her LP of thriller onto a tape so I could listen to. I used my fisher price tape recorder up next to the TV to record the audio from awards shows. I remember the amazement of watching him perform Billy Jean - and my mom saying "watch this, here it comes . . . watch" and then he did the moonwalk. twice. in the same song.MJ -…

Use your imagination . . .

When was the last time you used your imagination in worship? I've been reading through the historical books, and trying to take note of some of the lengths that Israel would go to to express gratitude, to ask forgiveness, to give thanks . . . Solomon's over one week-long worship service, for the dedication of the temple, included the sacrifice of 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep. Can you imagine the scene of fire coming down from Heaven and consuming the sacrifice? The people of God - bowing and declaring "For He is good, for his steadfast love endures forever .…
