Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – January 14, 2018

Yesterday's worship set focused our thoughts on the Holy Spirit, and the prayer for the Spirit's work to fall on us at OMPC. We opened with Awake My Soul - a hymn re-write from an Isaac Watts hymn text. After the call to worship we sang Soul on Fire, O 4 a 1000 Tongues (with the Crowder chorus), Savior King, and Oceans. Our offering song was a new tune (to OMPC) called Holy Spirit.  And since no fewer than 42 Christian artists have done their rendition of this tune - we used Francesca Battistelli's roadmap. Join us in choir!  We've resumed rehearsals and are preparing for our "Not…

We put 2017 in the books yesterday.  It's been a great year for the Worship Ministry at OMPC.  Great folks involved in using their musical and technical gifts to glorify God, and our worship and musical community growing closer together in fellowship and community. Yesterday was just me at the piano, and Chad Walker - our Director of Outreach and Young Professionals delivering the message. We opened yesterday with Come Ye Sinners. After the call to worship we sang Your Grace is Enough, Lord I Need You, O Come to the Altar, and How Deep the Father's Love for Us. Our offering song was Mercy. Join…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – December 10, 2017

Yesterday was our 15th Annual Christmas Worship Service at OMPC.  I don't do a typical morning recap for the service - as it involves narrative, music and video, and takes the whole hour. I'll post videos here at the blog later this week, so be sure and check back, but in the meantime, we had over 180 involved between the choir, band, kids choir and tech team.  Such an awesome privilege to get to serve alongside such dedicated and talented volunteers. Check back soon for videos! Here is the blurb that I published on the back of our program this…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – December 3, 2017

Yesterday (actually Sunday because I'm writing this on Tuesday) was the first Sunday of Advent.  At OMPC we love to sing the traditional Christmas carols - but we also include songs that we normally sing during the year, which in the context of Advent, take on a whole new meaning.  Yesterday we sang a lot about "waiting," which of course reminds us that not only are we celebrating the birth of Christ, but we also wait and long for His return, coming in the clouds. We opened with Heaven and Earth (but just as a side note - i don't sing…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – November 26, 2017

We're wrapping up the year rapidly, as last Sunday was "thanksgiving sunday."  This is one of the few years that the Sunday after thanksgiving isn't also the first sunday of Advent.  The last time it happened was 2006 and the next time won't be until 2022!  So we haven't officially kicked off the Advent season yet, but will do so this coming Sunday - December 3. We opened yesterday with Here For You. After our call to worship we sang Lay Me Down, The Solid Rock, What a Beautiful Name, and To Him Our offering song was Ho   w Can it Be? (i figured…
