Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – August 13, 2017

Yesterday was pretty cool – we introduced Don Sellers – our new Director of Mercy for OMPC, and the current Sr Pastor of South Park Baptist.  Don’s congregation was also kind enough to join us for worship – and we were certainly honored by their presence.

We opened yesterday with Glorious Day – a new tune from Passion, and a new tune to OMPC.

After the call to worship we sang This is Amazing Grace, My Jesus I Love Thee, O Come to the Altar, and What a Beautiful Name.

Our offering song was Good Good Father, and our communion tune was My Beloved – sung by Kala Waldron.  I’ll have the video posted here later this week.

If you’re looking for the #bluebook tune for this week you’ll find Hillsong’s recording of Draw Me Close to You below…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – July 23, 2017

Great to be back at OMPC after taking some vacation last week!  We continued this week with our BlueBook series and the week’s theme was “becoming.”  Our worship set was filled with texts that turned our gaze to Christ, fixing our eyes on Him.

We opened yesterday with Glorious Day – a new tune from the Passion folks over in Atlanta.

After our call to worship we sang Beautiful One, Waiting Here For You, May the Mind of Christ My Savior, and Savior King.

Our offering song was What a Beautiful Name.

MEN! Join us this Sunday for our 14th Annual Bullfrog Choir.  No singing experience necessary.  Just show up and sing.  We’ll have a brief runthrough at 9:45, but even if you don’t make that – feel free to come and join us for the 10:45 service.

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – July 9, 2017

Micah McElveen from Vapor Ministries preached yesterday at OMPC.  Great guy with a tremendous passion for the impoverished, and a great vision for reaching the ends of the earth.  We continued our BlueBook themes this week with “Letting Go.”  The illustration I used as we intro’d the “song of the week” was that of letting go those things that we cling to so tightly.  Much like a two-year-old, grasping and obsessing over whatever toy they’re playing with, until a parents walks into the room – where the kid drops the toy, throws his arms in the air in surrender… letting go.

We opened yesterday with Heaven and Earth

After the call to worship we sang Everlasting God, I Lift My Hands, Draw Me Nearer, and We Will Run.

Our offering song was a great tune from Tommy Walker called Where You Are.

The #bluebook song this week was I Lift My Hands.

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – June 25, 2017

We’re halfway through our Blue Book series. If you haven’t joined us, it’s never too late to grab a copy and join OMPC in walking through this devotional.  Yesterday’s sermon was on “Naked” and so our worship set was based around Psalm 30 (joy comes in the morning – God pursues us, and brings us out of shame).

We opened with a new tune for OMPC called Glorious Day from the Passion folks over in the ATL.

After our call to worship we sang You Lifted Me Out, Jesus, Jesus Paid it All, and What a Beautiful Name (Hillsong).

Our offering song was Jesus I Come.

The #BlueBook song for this week is Just As I Am

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – June 18, 2017

Bob was out yesterday and Tom Patton brought our message following along in the BlueBook series with Holiness.

We opened with a tune that Jeff Sauceda has introduced the last couple times he’s led called Psalm 100

After our call to worship we sang Your Grace is EnoughJesus Only Jesus, 10,000 Reasons, and Holy Holy Holy – which is also the #BlueBook song of the week.

Our offering song was a new (to OMPC) tune called What a Beautiful Name by Hillsong.

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – June 11, 2017

Yesterday’s service gave us the opportunity to be reminded of the sustaining, life-giving breath of God.  Our time in worship reflected on the importance of His breath empowering every part of our being, and reminded us of our desperation for His very breath to always be moving, working, and breathing within us.

We opened yesterday with All Because of Jesus.

After our call to worship we sang Hosanna, Breathe on Me Breath of God, Breathe, and O Come to the Altar.

Our offering song was Great Are You Lord (from All Sons and Daughters), and our communion tune was Breathe In Me, from Michael W Smith.

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – June 4, 2017

It was great to be back at OMPC yesterday after a Sunday away on vacation.  We continued in our Blue Book series with “Following and Being Led.”

Our worship set was designed around the theme of whole-hearted devotion, sacrifice and surrender.  For me, a key verse for surrender is always found in the 3rd verse of O Worship the King – “Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, in You do we trust, nor find you to fail…”

I’m always forgetting that I am that frail child of dust – my trust is too often in what I’m able to control, and how i’m able to order the world around me.

We opened yesterday with Here For You

After our call to worship we sang Lay Me Down, O Worship the King, Oceans, and Lay it Down.

Our offering song was Meredith Andrews’ All I Ask.  As I continued to study the week, and plan the set, i was led to Psalm 73 where the writer says “whom have i in Heaven but You – there is nothing on earth I desire besides You…”

If you’re looking for the Blue Book Song – I’ve included “He Leadeth Me” below

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – May 21, 2017

Bob was back in the pulpit yesterday as we continued our series in the Blue Book Devotional.  Yesterday’s theme was “Loved By God” – which paired so nicely with some great tunes that remind us of God’s love for us…

We opened with Because of Your Love.

After our call to worship we sang Our God Saves, Good Good Father, I Stand Amazed, and How Deep the Father’s Love For Us.

Because Bob used the Zephaniah 3 passage for his sermon – we paired that with one of the best song settings that I’ve ever known for that passage – He Will Rejoice, written by Scott Wesley Brown.  Definitely an older tune – but so great.

If you’re looking for this week’s Blue Book song – you’ll find Jesus Lover of My Soul below…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – May 14, 2017

Our kids led in worship yesterday, as has become tradition here at OMPC, especially for Mother’s Day.  Always great to be led by the kids – they’re such a wonderful reminder of our posture/position in worship.  Their often uninhibited freedom is enviable, as they haven’t lost the desire to use their bodies, arms, and hands in worship.

We opened yesterday with Let the Praises Ring.

After our call to worship we sang Song of Love, The Solid Rock, By Faith, and Lay it Down.

Our offering song was a tune that my wife Mandy wrote a few years back called One Mother’s Prayer.

If you’re looking for this week’s BlueBook song – you’ll want to listen to In Christ Alone.

I’ve included a different arrangement than we typically do at OMPC – i hope you enjoy.

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – May 7, 2017

Hard to believe we’re already into May – next Sunday is Mother’s Day, and the kids will be leading us in worship.  Love it when the kids lead in worship – almost as much as I love choir Sundays – of which, yesterday was one.  Love our choir at OMPC – and yesterday was a rare “show up and sing” Sunday, as we had no official rehearsals beforehand.  Almost impossible to get folks out for rehearsals in May, as school years are winding down, business trips and ball clubs are winding up, and folks are longing for summer….

We opened yesterday with Heaven and Earth.

After our call to worship we sang Forever Reign, Good Good Father, Amazing Grace, and 10,000 Reasons.

Our offering song was Jesus – a tune we introduced during our Palm Sunday service “These Dry Bones.”

Our BlueBook Song this week is Amazing Grace
