Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – May 21, 2017

Bob was back in the pulpit yesterday as we continued our series in the Blue Book Devotional.  Yesterday's theme was "Loved By God" - which paired so nicely with some great tunes that remind us of God's love for us... We opened with Because of Your Love. After our call to worship we sang Our God Saves, Good Good Father, I Stand Amazed, and How Deep the Father's Love For Us. Because Bob used the Zephaniah 3 passage for his sermon - we paired that with one of the best song settings that I've ever known for that passage - He Will Rejoice, written by Scott…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – May 14, 2017

Our kids led in worship yesterday, as has become tradition here at OMPC, especially for Mother's Day.  Always great to be led by the kids - they're such a wonderful reminder of our posture/position in worship.  Their often uninhibited freedom is enviable, as they haven't lost the desire to use their bodies, arms, and hands in worship. We opened yesterday with Let the Praises Ring. After our call to worship we sang Song of Love, The Solid Rock, By Faith, and Lay it Down. Our offering song was a tune that my wife Mandy wrote a few years back called One Mother's Prayer. If you're looking…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – May 7, 2017

Hard to believe we're already into May - next Sunday is Mother's Day, and the kids will be leading us in worship.  Love it when the kids lead in worship - almost as much as I love choir Sundays - of which, yesterday was one.  Love our choir at OMPC - and yesterday was a rare "show up and sing" Sunday, as we had no official rehearsals beforehand.  Almost impossible to get folks out for rehearsals in May, as school years are winding down, business trips and ball clubs are winding up, and folks are longing for summer.... We opened…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – April 30, 2017

Bob was out yesterday and Mark Long - our Youth Pastor, preached on the Blue Book week "Chosen By God." We opened with Jesus - a new tune to OMPC that we introduced during our Palm Sunday service. After our call to worship we sang All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name, How He Loves, Let it Be Jesus, and To Him. Our offering song was All Sons and Daughters' All the Poor and Powerless. This week's #bluebook song isn't a tune that I'm familiar with, from Maranatha Praise called Jesus You Are Lord.  If you're interested you can find a youtube recording below... [youtube…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – April 23, 2017

Yesterday's worship set hinged around the idea that "it is well" with our souls, in Christ - knowing that He is the comfort, the peace, the rescuer.  His faithfulness is our shield.  He has commanded his angels concerning us to guard us in all our ways.  He will watch over our coming and our going - both now and forevermore. We opened yesterday with Jesus - a new tune to OMPC that we introduced during our Palm Sunday service. After the call to worship we sang I AM, You Never Let Go, Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus, Never Once, and It Is Well Our offering…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – April 2, 2017

Yesterday was one of our "OMPC sometimes has a different musical style" worship services - as we had fiddle, bass, piano, and acoustic, and a single female voice for leadership as opposed to our normal setup of full band and praise team (or choir). We opened yesterday with Come Ye Sinners. After our call to worship we sang Relentless, I Lift My Hands, Jesus What a Friend for Sinners, and Lead Me to the Cross. Our offering song was Mercy. If you're looking for this week's Blue Book song, you can find I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say below [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AmFu58Tk2Y?rel=0&w=560&h=315] I hope you'll join us…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – March 19, 2017

We don't have our normal recap this week, as yesterday was our Kids Musical Please Come Home, written and directed by my Auber-talented wife, Mandy. Based on the parable of the Prodigal Son, Please Come Home follows the Biblical story, as well as a parallel modern-day version, where we experience the heartache of a Father, and His relentless pursuit of BOTH of his sons - the one that left, and the one that became angry when the Prodigal returned. If you're interested in more details about the musical, or would like to purchase it for use at your own church, you…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – March 12, 2017

Yesterday was time-change Sunday.  We should, one time-change Sunday, yell "surprise!" to all the people that forget to set their clocks and come in an hour late... That'd be funny right? Yesterday's service was based around the #bluebook devotional thoughts on "God's Voice."  The #bluebook song of the week is Matt Redman's Blessed Be Your Name - and i've included his recording below.  You can also find Carrollton's recording of our communion song Tell Me. We opened yesterday with Because of Your Love. After our call to worship we sang Shelter, Blessed Be Your Name, Be Still My Soul, and O Come to the Altar. Our…
