Yesterday was our "Easter Season Worship Service" - which we usually do on Palm Sunday - but this year Palm Sunday is in the midst of spring break, so we bumped it up a week.The title was "Come As You Are," as the encouragement was for us to use our imaginations as we explored just a small part of the context of Jesus's life.Much more to say about the service - and the videos that we showed will be up this week, but the very end of the service was the Handel's Hallelujah Chorus - in which we tried something new,…

We continued with our Lenten season worship yesterday.  It's so good to at least consider the idea of slowing down and reflecting on the cross, spending time in repentance....One of our tunes from yesterday had the line "the dying thief rejoiced to see that fountain in his day; and there may I, though vile as he, wash all my sins away."  It's so important that we realize, as we come to the cross through humility and repentance that we are JUST as vile as the thief on the cross.  Not worse off, nor any better - but just as vile.…

What a great morning of worship!  Our kids choir led us in "What's Up, Zak?"  - the story of both Zaccheus and Bartimaeus and how their lives were changed forever by meeting Jesus.I'm always so excited about the church getting to share in what the kids are working on.  Children's choirs play such an integral role, not only in teaching biblical truths to our kids, but helping to shape musical foundations that will stay with them, to some degree, for the rest of their lives.  If your kids aren't involved in kids choir - they need to be!  Join us…

We wrapped up our 2015 Global Missions Conference yesterday, and LENT begins this Wednesday.  Lent is one of my favorite seasons in the church calendar.  I love the lament and confession aspect of Lent.  I love the progression that we can go through as a believer as we come repentantly, with knowledge and expectation that the finished work of Christ has, is and will continue to sanctify us.  But a season of lament is good.  It can be a season of refocusing.  What will your focus be?We opened yesterday with Let Creation Sing.After our call to worship we sang Because of…

We kicked off our 2015 Global Missions Conference yesterday with a Choir Sunday and guest preaching from Dan Iverson - MTW's Team Leader in Japan.We opened our service with Our God Saves.After our call to worship we sang Jesus Shall Reign, The Same Love, O 4 a 1000 Tongues (with the Crowder chorus), and 10,000 Reasons.Our offering song was an older tune from Hillsong that I really dig - Let Creation Sing.We continue to prepare for our "not really Palm Sunday Spectacular Spectacular" which is set for Sunday March 22, because spring break starts on March 29.  Never too late…

Yesterday's worship set was all about remembering the relentless pursuit of God's love for us.  How easy is it for you to think that you're on your own and forgotten about.  How many have strayed and think that they've gone too far to ever come back.  It's comforting, healing and restorative to be reminded that the God of the universe not only knows us and formed us, but transformed us and pursues us as the shepherd that leaves the 99 for the one that's lost.We opened yesterday with Let Us Return - a song I wrote based on Hosea.After our call…

Our worship set was focused all on the theme of adoration.  Simply spending time adoring Christ for who He is, and what He has done.We opened yesterday with a great call to worship - reminding us to instruct our souls to awake - called Awake My Soul.After our call to worship we sang This is Amazing Grace, Adoration, How Great Thou Art, and He Knows My Name.Our offering song was Savior King.  Love that tune.
