Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – May 8, 2011

Happy mother's day to all the moms out there. I called mine yesterday morning and had a sweet conversation with her, remembering some childhood memories. Anyway - we opened the early service with All Because of Jesus. I say the early service because we cut it for the 2nd service because of time issues. After our call to worship we sang Let Us Return, O Worship the King, God of This City, and Never Let Go.Our offering song was a new song my wife wrote called One Mother's Prayer. Great tune - involved the kids choir, and a small ensemble of…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – April 17, 2011

Not your traditional Monday Morning recap - as yesterday was our Palm Sunday worship service. We opened with Viva la Vida. I'll post the video soon that explained why we opened with that song - and my take on the lyrics. We did new songs from Tim Hughes, HIllsong United, Tommy Walker, Andy Gullahorn, Bethany Dillon, Handel (yes really) and Jared Anderson, and a couple custom hymn arrangements that I've done. Great time of worship. Over 100 people involved from the choir, to the band to the tech. Really looking forward to a great time of worship this weekend. Easter…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – April 10, 2011

This is getting ridiculous. If I can't commit to a Monday morning... We opened on Sunday with a song I wrote called Awake My Soul. After our call to worship we sang Paul Baloche's Hosanna, Come Thou Fount, Here I am to Worship, and You Gave Your Life Away. Our offering song was Lift High - such a great tune. For communion we sang Beautiful Things (by Gungor) and another tune I wrote called Endless Praise. Our Palm Sunday program is this Sunday - don't miss it. Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – March 27, 2011

Yesterday was the 3rd Sunday of Lent. Bob came up with a great acrostic - LENT - Let Everyone Now Turn. Lent ends up being a sweet time in my life - of trying to strip away all that i get distracted with - and focus back on Christ, for my sufficiency, sustenance, identity... We opened yesterday with a tune I wrote called Let Us Return. Ironically enough - Bob was going to use the tune as an illustration (for aforementioned acrostic) and had no idea that we were going to sing it. I love it when the Holy Spirit…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – March 13, 2011

Only had one service yesterday, and it was quite the service - probably one of the biggest technical failures we've ever had, and we're still unsure of what happened. The only PC that the worship ministry uses sits in the booth and runs songshowplus - but that may be changing soon. Anyway - it was a great morning, and there was great laughter; what a great church! We opened with Hillsong's Hosanna. After our call to worship we sang You Lifted Me Out, Come Ye Sinners, Draw Me Nearer, and Surrender. Our offering song was Forever Reign. For Communion, Lauren…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – March 6, 2011

Not your typical recap for yesterday. We premiered a brand new children's musical called Please Come Home. Created and written by my wife, Mandy Sears, the musical explored both the prodigal son, and the older brother, and was an incredible reminder of God's pursuit of us. Most of the music was original compositions by Mandy, along with a tune each from One Republic, and FFH. Mandy also wrote all of the dialogue, stage direction, and choreography. The kids started practicing late last summer, as we wrapped up charting the songs, and tracking the backing tracks. Over the course of the…
