We've done a variation of the same Christmas Eve service since I've been here, which was Christmas 2003.  The Means family has blessed us every year by leading the service…We opened the 5:00 service with a time of carol singing for about 15 minutes prior. We had a great morning of worship yesterday for our 4th and final sunday of advent. We opened with Our God Saves.After our call to worship we sang Angels We Have Heard on High, Amazing God, Angels from the Realms of Glory (with a bit of Little River Band's Lady thrown in), Your Name, and How He Loves.Our offering song was a tune sung by Carlee Green called Light of the World.

Yesterday was the 2nd Sunday of Advent - the Bethlehem candle on the traditional Advent Calendar…We opened yesterday with All Because of Jesus.After our call to worship we sang  Sing to the King, O Come All Ye Faithful, O Little Town of Bethlehem, and You Alone Can Rescue.I was struck by the last verse in O Little Town - "cast out our sin and enter in, be born in us today" and how well it fits with the opening line for You Alone Can Rescue - "who, Oh Lord, can save themselves, their own souls could heal…"For our offering song, Lauren…

I love the Advent/Christmas season.  One thing I love doing as a worship leader is taking songs that we sing during the rest of the year - and putting them into the Christmas context, flanked by a few carols that are essentially singing/saying the same thing.  Just simply altering our context a little bit can change the way we view the most common of praise texts.We opened yesterday with That's Why We Praise Him - a Tommy Walker song that I don't think we've done for about 5 years - but says it perfectly.After our call to worship we sang Hosanna,…

It's been a while since we've had a "thanksgiving" Sunday - the Sunday following thanksgiving for the last few years has also been the first Sunday of Advent.  Advent start this coming Sunday…We opened yesterday with Awake My Soul.After our call to worship we sang Let God Arise, Arise, Stronger, O Love That Will Not Let Me Go, and Before the Throne of God Above.Our offering song was Gungor's Beautiful Things.
