Monday morning Recap for Sunday – May 30, 2010

Heath and Justin Hale led worship for us last weekend - did a tremendous job! I was down at Gulf Shores with our singles' group, leading worship for their retreat. We've got a great group of singles - and i think it's awesome that they would set aside time at the beach to spend in worship, prayer, and study.Back here - the Hale's opened with Amazing God.After the call to worship they sang Prince of Peace, Come Ye Sinners, Give Us Clean Hands, and I Stand Amazed. For the offering song - they sang How Deep the Father's Love. Our new summer…

Monday morning Recap for Sunday – May 23, 2010

Greetings blog-readers . . . Yesterday was a choir Sunday. Choir takes a break now - but only for two weeks, and resumes rehearsals on June 9 as we prepare to lead in worship on June 20. we opened yesterday with You Lifted Me Out (Tomlin, and a bunch of other people). My opening encouragement yesterday was that as we sang the songs that we know well - to consider the text of the tunes, in light of Pentecost Sunday, and how they take on a whole new meaning, or bent, or angle. Pretty cool. After our call to worship…

Monday morning Recap for Sunday – May 16, 2010

The Kids led in worship yesterday. As Bob put it - the kids have a way of leading us to more uninhibited worship - and we presbyterians could stand a bit more of that. I will say that i was astounded by how many fists I saw in the air during the chorus of "let the praises ring."For those interested - yesterday's team consisted of a full band (from my normal teams), a youth trio (made up of the youth that work with our kids on Sunday mornings), a 6-voice kids praise team, and 58 kids (78 during 2nd service)…

Monday morning Recap for Sunday – April 25, 2010

Patrick and the Youth worship team led worship in my absence yesterday. We have the best youth ministry and the best youth staff in the country - Patrick's very talented not only in discipling and shepherding youth - but also in leading worship. It's great to be able to leave knowing that it's so well taken care of. If your kids aren't in our youth ministry, and actively engaged - they should be. Encourage them to come. Drop them off. Get them a ride with the neighbor's kids. Do what it takes to get them plugged into what's going on…

Monday morning Recap for Sunday – April 18, 2010

Greeting interweb. We had a different flavor to the band sound last Sunday - as I had a good friend playing fiddle - as well as a mandolin, 2 acoustics, and hollow-body bass. Great feel for the service. We opened with What a Savior. After our call to worship, we sang Come Christians Join to Sing, Amazing God, Center, and In Christ Alone. Our offering song was Christy Nockel's A Mighty Fortress - really, really, really great tune. For communion - Julie sang I Belong, and then we sang Streams of Living Water (RMM). Youth are leading in worship this…

I truly love the Easter morning celebration. I've been waking up earlier and earlier in the mornings - for reasons unknown, but this morning I was able to sit with my boys and read the resurrection accounts from scripture . . . Anyway - we had two packed houses for worship this morning. We opened our service with Let God Arise. After our call to worship - in which Bob led us through the historical Easter responsive reading, we sang I Am Free, Arise, Indescribable, Rejoice the Lord is King, Everlasting God, and Mighty to Save. Our offering song was a fantastic tune…
