Monday Morning Recap for Sunday January 24, 2010

We had a great time of worship yesterday morning. The choir sang - and I really enjoy choir Sundays. The more people that we can get involved in leading God's people in worship, the better - We opened with a new song called What a Savior. After our call to worship we sang Amazing God, Everlasting God, Amazing Grace (Chains are Gone), and Your Name (Baloche). Our offering followed immediately with Revelation Song - with the choir and Lauren Roberts. We also heard the now 3-year-old recording of Drake reading about heaven. You can hear it on the side-bar of…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday January 17, 2KX

The power went out - The 9:00 service didn't get to see the 80, or the video clip that we had put together to lead into the sermon re: Haiti . . . Carlee did a bang-up job filling the room with vocals on the offering song, without mic, and in a room that's been designed to acoustically support a sound system, and not unamplified vocals and Bob screamed his way through his 9:00 sermon. The power came back on at 10:20 in time for us to get the technical systems back up for the 10:30 service. It was a…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday January 10, 2KX

Everything seemed back to normal yesterday for our Sunday morning services - Normal times - 9 and 10:30. Bob was back, and started a series on Jonah. Life groups started back last night, as well as kids quest and kids choir. If your kids aren't in kids choir - and they're free from 4:30 to 5:30 - you should consider it. I took some time off. It was refreshing. I closed down the email, the work phone, and my cell phone voicemail indicated I was not likely to return calls until today (the 4th).December was good, and great, and long, and tough . . . and I missed my family during it - but reconnected with them over the break. On Sunday December 20 - my wife and I celebrated 12 years. We went to Atlanta for the evening, and ate at our favorite restaurant . . . But that morning, we had a normal worship set, and a full praise band.…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – December 13 (on Tuesday)

I'm not going to attempt a recap for this past sunday except to say that we had an incredible time - and it was the culmination of many, many, many hours of hard work from about 140 people.I will share this - as I wrote it for the program:The thought for today – and title of our program – is BEHOLD. It means, "to look; to observe; to see; to feel…” BEHOLD is an action that calls us to engage. We are to engage with our eyes. Engage with our ears. And engage with our hearts. We are called to…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – November 29 (yeah – i know)

Great morning of worship last Sunday. I had some good time off the week before with the family, and it's always good coming and kicking off the advent season at Oak Mountain. My encouragement to the congregation was that as we worship though advent - we continue to sing praise songs, intermingled with carols. As we consider the 1st advent (Christ's birth), and the 2nd advent (Christ's return), my encouragement is that we embrace the texts of those praise songs in the context of an advent setting - singing words like "remember your people, remember your children, remember your promise,…
