Worship Order for Bridget Beasley's Memorial

I've had tons of requests for the worship order that we did the other night. For those of you that aren't at Oak Mountain, we lost a dear, dear sister, friend, mom to a long bout with cancer. She fought so well. Her faith was incredible and she pointed us to Christ in a way that few ever have.We opened her memorial service with Our God Saves. After the call to worship we sang Amazing God, You Never Let Go, and Be Thou My Vision. We then read together Question #1 in the Heidelberg Catechism (what is your only comfort in…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – June 5, 2011

There have been few times in the almost 8 years that I've been here where we've totally thrown out your typical "worship order" and opted for something completely out of the box - and yesterday was one of those times. We invited in Curt Cloninger to come and share with us his "God Views" show. Absolutely incredible. I've known Curt for almost 14 years now. We met while working at Perimeter Church in Atlanta. I've been trying to get him in here since we moved - and yesterday was the day. If you don't know Curt - check his stuff out…

Monday Morning Recap for Sunday – May 22, 2011

Patrick and the youth worship team did an excellent job leading for me last week as I was out of town. I so appreciate not only his heart for worship, but his heart for developing young musicians - not just into better musicians, but into better worshippers. If you go to Oak Mountain and you read this, and your child is youth-aged and not plugged into our youth ministry, I'm not quite sure why - but i'd strongly recommend getting your kids involved. They opened last week with The Highest and Greatest (Tim Hughes). After the call to worship they sang What…

Happy mother's day to all the moms out there. I called mine yesterday morning and had a sweet conversation with her, remembering some childhood memories. Anyway - we opened the early service with All Because of Jesus. I say the early service because we cut it for the 2nd service because of time issues. After our call to worship we sang Let Us Return, O Worship the King, God of This City, and Never Let Go.Our offering song was a new song my wife wrote called One Mother's Prayer. Great tune - involved the kids choir, and a small ensemble of…

Not your traditional Monday Morning recap - as yesterday was our Palm Sunday worship service. We opened with Viva la Vida. I'll post the video soon that explained why we opened with that song - and my take on the lyrics. We did new songs from Tim Hughes, HIllsong United, Tommy Walker, Andy Gullahorn, Bethany Dillon, Handel (yes really) and Jared Anderson, and a couple custom hymn arrangements that I've done. Great time of worship. Over 100 people involved from the choir, to the band to the tech. Really looking forward to a great time of worship this weekend. Easter…
